Ship Model Exhibit and Reception

·        press release has gone out

·        committee will meet at the house at 1:00 PM on Wednesday July 14th Bob, Patty, Deale, Jonathan, Carol (maybe)

 

Reception - August 12th

·        Bob will call Amey about Wednesday afternoon’s meeting

 

Downeast Magazine - August 15th

·        no invitations – but will have announcement in the newsletter

June 27th Opening Reception

·        37 signed the guest book

·        50 to 55 attended

·        atmosphere was good, people enjoyed the tours, received a few renewals, contributions and purchases

 

Building and Maintenance

 

Air conditioning fixed for the time

 

Photocopier  - is not working, might be reparable.

Bob - moves to buy a new copier - try to keep cost below $300

Motion passed and Jim will check on options

 

Lighting -  Still need light bulbs – Jim took care of this the next day

 

Roof  - Roof seems to be working well – but one of the brick chimney cap supports is missing - (Note: Jim found the missing piece, but has not had time to put it back.)

 

Locks and keys - Note the location of the hidden key.  Need to make sure board members know where it is.

 

Archives and Research

 

Jonathan has been archiving items throughout the house.

Some items had not been in the database

Jonathan – will provide a short “lost and found” article for the newsletter (provided pictures)

 

Raul Smith - Request for $2,100 to pay someone to type documents or scan and OCR them.

·        The board would like to see some of the products from Raul Smith's work (Note: Bill Petry was unable to attend this meeting and does have some of Raul Smith’s work.  He will circulated it to other board members as soon as possible.)

·        Board would like a summary of what has been done and what remains to be done.

·        Need to take up this discussion with Bill Petry present

·        Jim will talk with Bill and then Raul and hold off on funding

 

Dick Carter Thesis about Jonathan Fisher – Gary Vencil

·        thesis is a well written 460 page document

·        first part biography of Jonathan Fisher

·        next revival of churches in Blue Hill

Tours and Interpretation

Jonathan Ashcroft suggested that we close on Monday and have Saturday by appointment

·        Monday closing was approved by the Board (Note: the website has been corrected.  Other documents will continue to have incorrect information)

·        Saturday will remain open as much as possible this year.

 

Scheduling

·        Mary Spooner - coming Mondays - switch to Wednesday (Badge)

·        Badge Jessup - can be available (Tuesdays?)

·        Myron and Gladys Hager - Badge will

·        Gary Vencil - not sure which day - Thursday or Friday

·        Bob and Linda - Fill in as needed

·        Bob and Jim may be able to switch off on Saturdays

 

Membership

 

Annual meeting – set for September 19th, 2004

·        speaker will need to be identified

·        note: newsletter marks the date but not the topic or place.

 

Membership Letter - separate from the newsletter

·        Deale recommends that we seek renewals each spring.

·        Fund raising letter

·        Esther Wood Executrix is Phyllis Pemberton - Carol will talk Amey talk with Amey and formulate a plan.

 

The Ruggles House Model

·        Advisory Board - large number of community leaders and retirees

·        Steering Committee - smaller planning committee that is more active

 

Marketing and Promotion

 

Badge will talk with Linda Long about getting in the AAA book for next year.

Jonathan Ashcroft may be able to prepare a prototype brochure

 

Regal Printing has the plates for the existing brochure
